4 Top Luxe Brand Deal Shopping Tips

luxe brand deals shopping tips

In addition to reviewing our Luxe Shopping Checklist, here are some additional shopping tips we’ve successfully used to get extra discounts on luxury brand apparel, handbags, and footwear. While these tips don’t always work, when they do the savings have been significant enough to make them a regular part of our discount shopping strategy.

  1. Cart Abandonment

Add an item to your cart and leave it there. Retailers often send reminder emails or texts to complete the purchase. Depending on their cart abandonment strategy, some may offer shoppers a discount or free shipping as an incentive to make the purchase.

  2. “Over Shopping”

Shop repeatedly for the same item. Retailers track your shopping behavior and if they anticipate your interest waning, they may offer an incentive to add the item to your cart and complete the purchase.

  3. Price Drops

As mentioned in our Luxury Shopping Guide Retailer Overviews, some retailers, especially online discounters, frequently adjust prices. If an item you’ve browsed drops in price, the retailer may send you an email or text notification with the new price. Make sure to sign up for that retailer’s emails and SMS messages.

  4. Notify Me

If an item you want is not available in your size, use the “Notify Me” function in case the retailer receives more inventory. Many luxury items have limited availability to reduce investment, but if items sell well, retailers will try to get more inventory.

    IMPORTANT NOTE!

Make sure to screenshot the price so you have proof if they do get your item. Often, retailers will adjust prices, and without proof, you’ll be out of luck if the price is higher. However, with proof in hand, customer service will give you the price the item was when you selected Notify Me. This happened to us with a pair of Christian Louboutin heels a year ago. The price dropped from $649 to $555 but the retailer did not have the desired size. We used the Notify Me function which, in this situation, should have automatically processed our order for $555 when more stock arrived. However, we noticed the desired size back in stock at $649 and worked with customer service to honor the $555 price. Without our screenshot with the lower price, we would have been out of luck.

The good news is these tips are simple to follow and not time consuming. The potential of added incentives and larger discounts makes it worthwhile.

Happy Shopping!
